- Apple Pie Sale! Is this weekend from 8 am-2pm. Orders are due today!!

-Apple Pie Volunteers: Need community service hours? Then this weekend is for you. You and your parents can work a two hour shift!

-Not able to volunteer for Apple Pie: Donate some kitchen utensils to help make the day more successful!

-9th Grade Honors Choir is this Weekend! The bus will leave at 7am.

-Spaghetti and Song is tonight!! Starting at 6:30 pm at the First Church of the Nazarene!

-We are meeting in the choir room right after school and heading to the first church of the nazarene to set up. Servers need to arrive at 5pm. Performers return at 5:30.

-Apple Pie Sales are due Nov. 16th and we are making them on Nov. 20th

-Wreaths: keep selling the wreaths to make 50% profit towards disney and or cedar point.

Parent Help!

Announcements

-Spaghetti and Song Tickets are still on sale! Buy them today.

-Spaghetti and Song is this Friday, November 13 starting at 6:30 pm at the First Church of the Nazarene.

-Dish Washers: We need 14 workers to help wash the dishes from Spaghetti and Song. If your parents haven't signed up to work here is their oppurtunity. On Saturday from 10am-12pm we will quickly wash the dishes.

-Spaghetti and Song Schedule on Friday: As soon as school is done we are heading to the choir room and car pooling over to the church. We are going to set up and prepare for spaghetti and song then do a dry run of the show. Once all of that is done students may go home and get ready. Their call will be 5:30 pm. Or they may stay at the church and eat some pizza that is being delivered.

-Apple Pie: Sales are due by next Monday. Don't miss out on this awesome dessert.

-Wreaths: Any student that wants to earn money for disney, this fundraiser is perfect for you. Get an order form from Mr. Snell, 50% of the profits goes straight to you!

-Jesse Ray: Tomorrow is our hat/lounge pant day. Don't FORGET.

Spaghetti and Song Dress Rehearsal

Announcements

-Spaghetti and Song Dress Rehearsal is tonight in the HS Choir Room starting at 7 pm. Plan to be there early! You only need to stay for your set.

-Spaghetti and Song: Tickets are on sale. Order now. $15 adult, $12 senior, $8 student.

-Spaghetti and Song is this Friday. After the early release the students will car pool over to the First Church of the Nazarene to set up and do a dry run of the show.

The show starts at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary at the First Church of the Nazarene!

-Apple Pies are currently being sold for $8 a pie. Orders are due by Monday, Nov. 16.

-Jesse Ray: We are continueing to support fellow choir member Jesse Ray as he recovers in the hospital

-Mark your calendar: Tuesday, December 15th at First United Methodist Church will be the NWHS Choir's Annual Holiday Concert starting at 7pm.

-Spaghetti and Song Volunteers: We are looking for about 16-20 student volunteers for performance on Friday, Nov. 13. If you are interested in helping talk to Mr. Snell

-Spaghetti and Song parent Volunteers: If you are singing a solo or duet in spaghetti and song your parents must help in some capacity. Pick up an adult help form from Mr. Snell TODAY.

-Spaghetti and Song Tickets: We are still accepting ticket orders if though they are late. Bring them in ASAP

CONCERT WEEK!

Fall Concert! Wednesday, October 28th at Jackson Community College's the Potter Center
7:30 p.m.
-All Choir Students are expected to be checked in and in their seats by 7 p.m.
-Make sure you have your uniform: Choir Polo Shirt and Dressy Black bottoms with black shoes and socks. Hair must be up and away from your face, refer to your handbook.

Two Days Off!!

It is official, our school has been hit with sickness...enjoy the next two days off!

Announcements

- Friday, October 23: All Men in choir are singing the National Anthem at the Football game. The festivities start at 5pm with a cookout at Kidder Middle School. Student singers eat free, if someone wants to join you it is $3.

- Saturday, October 24: MSVMA Honors Choir Auditions. We are meeting at the High School at 10:45 am and departing at 11:00 am.

-Wednesday, October 28: Our Annual Fall Concert. Students will be missing 1st and 2nd hour that day. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at JCC's The Potter Center. Students need to be there at 7pm.

-Fundraiser: Thursday October 22: Our fundraiser supplies will be arriving. Plan on having a way to get them home after school.

-Trunk and Treat: We need every student to bring in one bag of Candy to help make trunk and treat a huge success this year.

Well it is the first week of school and we are feeling the intensity!

Announcements:

-Last night: we had our MANDATORY parent meeting. Thank you to everyone that attended and signed up to help! Your donation of time is critical to our success!

-Disney Trip: Many questions have arrised regarding the trip. After the meeting last night we talked with the tour guide and more information will be given out this week answering your questions. GET EXCITED FOR DISNEY!!

-Fundraiser: We have already sold 196 items after day one. Keep the momentum going. This supports us for the rest of the year!

-Tomorrow night is Vocal Dimensions first night rehearsal: 6:30-8 pm

-After school auditions were held today. Audition results will be posted on Friday after school.

Choir Meeting Tonight!!!
Tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the High School Choir Room we will be holding a MANDATORY choir parent meeting. We will be discussing events for the year, our Disney Trip, Fundraisers, and Parent Help. We look forward to seeing you tonight!!
Announcements:
1. Today we kicked off our annual fall fundraiser: This year we will be selling quality cookie dough, cheesecakes, and pizza kits. The sale started today and will end on 9/29/09. However, you can still sell online at www.helpourgroup.com
2. Tomorrow, Wednesday September 16th: I will be holding extracurricular choir auditions after school in the choir room. Come ready to sing!
3. Vocal Dimension Retreat is a week and a half away! Students in V.D. need to turn in their permission slips and rules forms.

Choir Parent Meeting: Tuesday, September 15 please plan on joining us for a mandatory choir parent meeting. We will be discussing fundraisers, field trips, concerts, Disney Trip, and much more!!

Small Group Auditions: Wednesday after school, I will be holding small group auditions. Students will not need to prepare anything in advance.

Tuesday, September 9th

Today was our first full day of classes. Freshmen and Link Leaders got to join us for the first time. All four choirs hit they ground running.

The students were given their choral handbook. Their assignment for the day was to take it home and go over it with their parents. The acknowledgment page is due by Friday, September 11th!

It was our first day back and besides it being a half day; losing half of our students to link leaders a lot still got accomplished.

Honors Choir Student Conductors:

If you are interested in auditioning to be a student conductor see Mr. Snell for a packet. Auditions are right after school this Thursday with Mr. Cummings in the choir room.

Mandatory Parent/Disney Meeting:

Next Tuesday, September 15th in the choir room at 6:30pm we are holding an informational meeting regarding the events that will happen this year including but not limited to: Concerts, Disney trip, festival, grading, musical, etc... Please plan on attending.

CHOIR RUMMAGE SALE!!

Choir Rummage Sale
WORKERS NEEDED!!

Good news!  All of our prep work is coming along nicely for the rummage sale (July 16-17).

We are only missing one major important part....YOU!!

That's right on Wednesday, July 15th we are going to be setting up for the sale in the High School Cafeteria and we are in need of workers.  In fact we are in need of workers on the 16th and 17th as well.

Schools out for Summer....

Well it is officially the first week of summer vacation
and we are already preparing for the 2009-2010 school year.

Uniforms: We are currently only missing two uniforms: Miki P. and Nick D.

Rummage Sale: We are still in need of Volunteers and Items for our Rummage sale. Please join us in making it a HUGE success!!

Regional Honors Choir:
Students if you are interested in Auditioning for Regional Honors Choir email Mr. Snell at msnell@nwschools.org. I have audition pieces and rehearsals CD's for you. The auditions are in October, imagine how prepared you will be if you start practicing now.

Cedar Point Trip Tomorrow!


At 10:30 a.m. tomorrow morning, 45 students from Northwest High School will be heading down south to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.

Below is the trip itinerary:
10:20 a.m. Students are dismissed from class and will load the buses
10:30 a.m. Depart from NWHS.
12:30 p.m. Arrive at Cedar Point.
9:45 a.m. Students load the buses.
10:00 p.m. Depart from Cedar Point.
12:30 a.m. Arrive back at NWHS
* Please plan on picking your students up right at 12:30 a.m.

Students Please Remember to Bring:

A Sack Lunch for the Drive Down
Layers (temperatures fluctuate at Cedar Point)
Sun Screen
Money

Welcome!

Well it took all year but Jackson Northwest High School Vocal Music Department finally has their blog up and running. This blog will be your go to place for all Choir related information.



Uniform Turn in: All students need to turn in their uniform for the 2008-2009 school year. Failure to turn your uniform in will result in fines!











Announcing NW Choirs Second Annual Rummage Sale, taking place on July 16th and July 17th from 9am-4pm at the Northwest High School Cafeteria.

Currently we are collecting unused treasures for our rummage sale. If you would like to donate please contact Nancy Lewis, NW Choir President, 788-9902.


We are please to announce that next year the Northwest High School Music Department will be taking a trip Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Be on the lookout for the turquoise informational sheet sent home with students today.
